The Trailer

In suburban Buenos Aires, thirty unemployed auto-parts workers walk into their idle factory, roll out sleeping mats and refuse to leave.

All they want is to re-start the silent machines. But this simple act - The Take - has the power to turn the globalization debate on its head.

Wilfird Laurier University's 4th Annual Global Citizenship Conference

For the 4th year in a row, some members of AW@L are involved in the organization of this conference, others are involved as presenters--running workshops, tabeling, and speaking on panels (including on the War in Afghanistan and on the 2010 Olympics). This year's theme is "Breaing the Culture of Silence."

We are stoked, also for the keynote speakers this year, especially Dr Andrea Smith, founder of INCITE! Women of Colour against Violence, and author of several great anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-partiarchal books, that will all be available at the KWCCSJ Infoshop table at the GCC.

Workers without bosses

Location: KWCCSJ (63 Courtland E)
Admission: Free
Time: 6:30pm
Date: Jan 23rd

The response of the popular classes to the Argentine economic crisis of December 2001 and lessons for anarchists in Canada - a Québec and Ontario speaking tour presented by theUnion Communiste Libertaire (UCL) and Common Cause.

We are going through one of the worst economic crises in the history of capitalism and the answers provided by the state and its lackeys are illusory. In addition, faced with this impasse, our leaders are trying to shift the entire burden of the crisis to workers and their communities.
