A plea for assistance from dumpsite 41 resistance - “Who’s going to stop the rape? Who’s going to stand for Mother Earth?”

An urgent call for support from the organizers resisting the construction of dumpsite 41, near Wasaga Beach, has been issued as developers ready to resume construction and the OPP make a wave of arrests (detailed below).

Specifically, the camp is seeking people willing to stand at the gates to block the development of a landfill site on ecologically and socially critical land. Those who can offer support to the main camp are also sought and firekeepers are required as OPP have made targeted arrests.

Workers from the Miller Group construction company have already used police to re-enter the disputed land, and are expected to return Monday, August 10th, early in the morning to resume their destructive actions. While rallies, phone calls, and letters are deeply appreciated, this callout is for allies to provide urgent direct support of the efforts to stop dumpsite 41.

Recent Prison Info (not a complete list):

Danny Beaton, was held for nearly a week in jail and was finally released on Monday. He was held after he refused bail conditions that would have prevented him from returning to the blockades at dumpsite 41. “Who’s going to stop the rape?” he asked, “Who’s going to stand for Mother Earth?” Danny Beaton, a Mohawk activist was arrested in a quick snatch-and-grab operation on August 6th while he was at site 41.

Meanwhile, farmer Anne Ritchie-Nahuis, and land protector who was arrested after attending the demonstration outside of the jail where a 82 and 76 year old farmer couple had just been charged with mischief. Anne was released from custody after agreeing to bail conditions which she managed to have reduced so she would be allowed to return to the main protest camp, which is located opposite of the main entrance of the socially and ecologically irresponsible landfill development.

While one of the women from the Beausoleil First Nation protest camp also remains in custody, another strong leader, Vicki Monague, was released after voluntarily turning herself into the OPP. She is also allowed to return to the main protest camp, but like Anne, she is not allowed at the gates.

A 22 year old First Nations male, who had been elemental to the 90 day old camp was also arrested by police after briefly leaving the site. See http://www.stopdumpsite41.ca for more details!!

The workers can always refuse to do this horribly destructive work, but as seen in june, they toil away:
