**update**

Ryan was denied bail and now awaits a bail appeal Apparently his sureties were too female/indigenous/young/without-sufficient-assets to be released from violent incarceration to our peaceful KW community.

Ryan Rainville's list of charges has grown and it appears the state is treating the case just as politically as other G20 related judicial farces.
Ryan will be held in jail and will re-appear in court at 2201 Finch Ave W on Monday August 9th at 10am. Supporters will be appreciated but are kindly requested not to create much of a ruckus.

Aug 5 2010, Waterloo
In collaboration with Waterloo regional police, Toronto cops arrested Indigenous Rights advocate, Ryan Rainville for allegedly causing mischief over $5000 and for assaulting a police officer during the convergence against the G20 summit of so-called world leaders.
The police told Ryan's roommate that he was being taken to Division 52 in Toronto and would be in room 206-F at the court at 2201 Finch St after 2pm. Rainville, usually a Toronto resident, was living with friends in Waterloo after being released from 6 days jailing on other political, G20 related charges.
When Rainville asked the plainclothes cops "with what did I assault someone with?" adding the comment "I've never hit a police officer." The reply made things clear: you did not assault with "a conventional weapon."
A close friend of Rainville described him as a "deeply thoughtful
intellectual and committed advocate for the rights of First Nations
People." One roommate noted that the last thing Ryan did before being
taken away was call his mother, then his wife, describing him as "a very caring individual."
While the G20 leaders are back freely committing atrocious crimes in their own countries, the Canadian police continue to act with impunity against peaceful communities. These targeted yet randomly timed arrests are part of a continuing attempt to intimidate community organizers.
Come to 2201 Finch Ave, off the 400 in Toronto at 2pm to show support
for another abducted comrade, and to show the police and the state that
we will not be intimidated into the shadows.
