hi peoples, i have put together what a list of what i think AW@L needs to look at when discussing the SPP.
Please look at the list and let me know if you don't think something should be there or if something should be added.
- The Final Ratification of the SPP will take place in Canada in the summer of 2010 in a yet unidentified location. With this ratification we will enter into a North American Union without any legislative discussion. We will lose sovereignty to a higher degree to corporate power. and as we know about most corporations - they don't give a fuck about the people. they are pure capitalists who care for profits and worship the all mighty dollar (well i guess it would become the amero)as their god.
-Energy Security
- Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, Alaska Pipeline
- 5 fold increase in Tar Sande development (already the
worlds worst point source GHG emitter)
- New agreements in Newfoundland for new offshore Oil
Platforms
-Health Care
- decreased access to naturopathic and homoeopathic
medicines through bill c-51 and c-52
- two tier and private health care to canada
-NAFTA Superhighway
- From Mexico to Oklahoma a super corridor of fenced in
toll roads, pipelines, and railways, which would then
branch off east west and north throughout north
america.
- Mexican Super Ports to allow for new super sized ships
which are too big for the panama canal. these ships
would be hauling Chinese products at a new super rate
- Mexican Ports are run by cheap, non-unionized labour
-North American Competitiveness Council (NACC)
- This group is the sole overseeing body of the SPP.
they are made up of 10 CEOs from each north american
country and meet annually with our leaders who accept
the groups proposals and enter into NAFTA chapter 11
type agreements which are unbreakable without severe
penalty.
-Undemocratic processes
- there is no debate in our houses of parliament
regarding the SPP or the agreements our leaders enter
us into. We have no voice in this.
-Regulatory Harmonization
- The aim is to harmonize all our regulations dealing
with the environment, health, boarder, security,
foreign affairs, military, and the economy (well
everything). These harmonizations will go down to
the lowest common denominator as if we were to
increase regulations it would not be as profitable.
Already we have seen the allowable levels of
pesticides on our foods increase to match the
american levels. This will have health implications
for Canadians. There are many more regulatory
harmonization issues.
-Smart Borders
- Allow quicker trade and business crossings at our
borders using advanced bio-identification cards.
This smart border campaign will reduce privacy and
not allow free flow of people such as in the European
Union, but allow for the faster transport of goods.
-Media Conglomeration
- Mass Media is owned by 3 people in Canada, 5 People
in the states. These are people who have extensive
investments in the corporate power structures and do
not allow the message of the SPP to be disseminated
to the masses. At globalization and SPP protests all
that gets put on the television are the violent
images of police beating "aggressive" protesters,
shooting them with rubber bullets and using chemical
weapons on them. The message of the protests is
never covered and the idea is to discredit the
protesters in the public's eyes as merely violent
vandals.
-Security Culture and War
- The Harper Government signed an agreement with the
Bush Government that will allow troops to cross
boarders upon request. That means american troops on
the streets of Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics and
any other time it is considered useful. American
troops on our streets, the same troops who kill
hundreds of civilians a day in their aggressive wars.
- The 2010 Olympics has the highest security budget in
the history of any canadian event or any Olympics.
Just to house all the extra security forces (over 12,
500) in Vancouver we are paying 32 million dollars to
rent out cruise ships in the harbour.
- The Canadian parliament agreed to keep American war
resisters in Canada. A non-binding bill was agreed to
and the conservative government took advantage of that
and is deporting these brave men and women back to
America where they face long jail sentences.
- We are being integrated into foreign wars in more
aggressive roles. We are no longer a country of peace
keepers but an aggressive force battling the Taliban
in Afghanistan and killing civilians. We are also
days away form having our 100th dead soldier carried
back to Canada
- The Military Industrial Complex is spreading its
tentacles in Canada and right here in KW we have Colt
Canada which produces Fully Automatic Assault Rifles
and Grenade Launchers. These guns are then sold to
various armies to be used in innocent slaughter.
