From No One is Illegal - Toronto
http://toronto.nooneisillegal.org/node/592

Harper is proposing replacing permanent residence with temporary status for two years or more for spouses and partners sponsored as part of the family class, "spouse or common-law partner in Canada" class category who are in a relationship of two years or less with their sponsors at the time of application.

As Canadian members of parliament are set to return to work after their winter break, Bill C-49 – the conservative government’s anti-refugee bill, will be reintroduced and voted upon. We need to mobilize support, tell the ruling government that we oppose their xenophobic regulations, and show the migrants from Tamil Eelam who arrived aboard the MV Sun Sea, that Harper and his race and incarceration based policies are not values we hold dear in the Waterloo Region.

De-mystifying the “Project Samossa” arrests
From: Community Advisory from the People's Commission Network
Montreal, September 2010
The recent arrests associated with the RCMP’s offensively named "Project Samossa" have generated a lot of questions and uncertainties in communities targeted by Islamophobia and racism. This community advisory is aimed at providing information and advice to address some of those questions. We hope that it will contribute to confident resistance to profiling, marginalization and criminalization.
Questions
1. What is the Canadian Anti-Terrorism Act?
2. What does it mean if individuals are arrested on terrorism-related charges?
3. Why are they in prison if they haven’t been found guilty of anything?
September 10th 2010 - We start with a solid update of our G20 friends, move into resistance to colonialism and toss in a bit of climate change news for fun. The music is kick ass all the way with new tracks from abstract random and dinah thorpe
