AW@L Statement of Support for G20 Resisters and of Continued Resistance Against Colonial Capitalism.

It has been a year and a half since the most massive police operation in canadian history targeted our communities and abducted our friends into the grips of the (in)justice system. In this billion-dollar 'security' operation, communities of activists and radical journalists were infiltrated, as the fortifications of corporate and government elite were intensified and guarded by their police. This attack on resistance is abhorrent, though it is also nothing new, and continues today with the ongoing criminalisation of dissent and the continued assault on Charter rights by governments, police forces, and judges.

Statement from Sterling Stutz - Until We are all Free!

from Conspire to Resist

“They call me an enemy of the state, so I know I must be doing something right.”
-Marilyn Buck (1947-2010)

The prosecution has gone to incredible lengths to attempt to control, isolate and divide our communities. They infiltrated community organizing groups in an attempt to create fear, quash dissent and incarcerate us. The state has gone to such lengths to destroy our communities of resistance because they know we are creating change.

On "Helpless", CANACE, and the “Truth and Reconciliation” Rally

by Luke Stewart
from Toronto Media Coop

On 27 February 2011, over one hundred Six Nations solidarity activists gathered to hold a truth and reconciliation rally and celebrate the fifth anniversary of the reclamation of Kanonhstaton (the Douglas Creek Estates) by people of the Six Nations on 28 February 2006. Coinciding with the solidarity celebration was the counter “truth and reconciliation”[1] rally held by Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality (CANACE).

You've Got Bail! (But No Freedom)

Ryan Rainville, "freedom" and the letter of G20 law

by Megan Cotton-Kinch
from The Dominion

TORONTO—The men’s shelter doesn’t look like a prison. There are no bars on the windows, no sign announcing the building’s institutional status. The walls are decorated with posters about Indigenous pride and occasionally the air is tinged with the sweet smell of burning sage.

For Ryan Rainville however, it is a prison. He is not allowed to leave the shelter except to see his lawyer and for occasional group activities. There is a long list of people—some of whom he has never met—whom the courts have ordered him not to contact. Because of these conditions he can’t work or go to school.

“Stop Bill C-49!” Info night and Letter Writing for Detained Tamil Migrants.

As Canadian members of parliament are set to return to work after their winter break, Bill C-49 – the conservative government’s anti-refugee bill, will be reintroduced and voted upon. We need to mobilize support, tell the ruling government that we oppose their xenophobic regulations, and show the migrants from Tamil Eelam who arrived aboard the MV Sun Sea, that Harper and his race and incarceration based policies are not values we hold dear in the Waterloo Region.

CALLOUT FOR AN ANTI – CAPITALIST CONTINGENT AT THE 01/29 “PEOPLE VS US
STEEL” MOBILIZATION, HAMILTON ONTARIO

Since late November 2010 United Steel Workers 1005 have been locked
out of their workplace US Steel Hamilton (Stelco) for refusing a bad
deal put forward by their employer – the Pittsburgh based multibillion
dollar, multinational company, US Steel. US Steel has demanded the
union make a number of concessions and has taken aim specifically at
pensions.

900 workers and over 9000 retirees have now been forced into a fight
for their livelihoods. US Steel is attempting to exploit the current
economic downturn hoping young workers feel they have no choice but
“take the bait” accepting a deal that will shaft thousands of fellow

Letters to the Editor - re: Sterling and Alex

first printed in The Cord October 20th 2010: http://www.thecord.ca/articles/35739

In last week's Cord, it was mistakenly printed that Sterling Stutz is a former student at WLU. While this error was an honest mistake (and quickly corrected), it is not surprising it was made. There has been a complete lack of support from the WLU Students Union and administration towards students and alumni who have been the target of the G20 security apparatus.

AW@L Radio - 2010-10-15 - The Smash The State Report, Alex "Released", and a Farper Speech

October 15th, 2010 - October in Review I starts the show as "the smash the state report" and we visit the issue of Alex Hundert's targetting and treatment by a malicious state, including ridiculous bail offer, and a coerced acceptance of conditions. We speak of other g20 fallout, and are joined by Winnie once again discussing a whole range of issues.

Finally, we have an update of AW@L's actions of the week along with a speech delivered by stephen harper at WLU on wednesday reminding everyone not to create communities, as criminal elements have infilitrated everything!
